The Natural Hair Movement:
What Black Men Think About Natural Hair
Yes I'm Natural! Today we are talking Natural hair, preferably what some of
the black men think about women and natural hair. I believe there are two
different kinds of naturals. There is the natural who wears her hair in its
natural state. There is also, the natural who alters her hair chemically. I am
the natural who likes to wear my hair in its natural state, followed by twist
outs, high puffs, protective styles: Sew ins, half wigs, braids etc...and every
now and then, I decide to treat myself and my natural hair to a silk
press; that may last only a few days due to the humidity lol, in which I
will save that story for another days post. Some women choose the protective
styling route for hair growth purposes and easiest to manage while in
school, work and hectic life schedules.
Firstly, I am in no way singling out every black man I am only
speaking from my experience of men I've dated, friendships and even
random strangers. I've had men compliment me on my natural hair, ask to
touch my hair or is it real; and the best of all, touch it without my permission!
Anyone who knows me knows, I am always honest when it comes to my natural hair
or my protective styles; and have no issue with any of the questions presented
to me. Some men go as far as only dating, women who don't wear weaves, and or
prefer them with straightened hair. It makes me and my natural hair
no difference, because I live my life, not looking to be accepted by
anyone. I appreciate the men who allow me to express myself
creatively, without any restraints.
